How to convert a digital color palette to watercolor colors

Happy Friday dear readers!

This post is number 2 of 4 about my process of creating an illustration. From creating the color palette (that's where we are now), to the final illustration.

In case you missed the previous post, I leave it linked here.

Since the amount of watercolor colors in my collection is beginning to be quite large, I have decided to create a basic palette for these tutorials with the colors that appear in almost all beginner sets.

The colors I will use are:

  • Lemon Yellow (or any cool yellow you have on your palette)
  • Medium Cadmium Yellow (you can replace it with any warm yellow you have)
  • Pale Cadmium Red (or any warm red you have in your palette)
  • Magenta (you can replace it with another cold red)
  • Cobalt blue.
  • Yellow Ocher.
  • Burnt Umber.
  • Sepia

You already know that most of my watercolors are Schmincke Horadam, but you do NOT need my same colors to get good results. For this reason I have not put the brand next to the color (although I do tell you about it in the video 😅).

It is likely that you will not get exactly the same tone as on the computer, don't worry, art is not mathematics, mix until you like the color and that's it!

As I always tell you, you can leave me your doubts and concerns in the comments and I will answer them to the extent possible.

Until next week!
