Simple lettering – Hello Summer
Happy Friday dear readers!!
Today's post includes a video with the real-time process of this beautiful summer lettering.
Summer has arrived in Spain, and it has arrived stomping! 😅.
This month of July we are going to practice with simple and fun exercises. I'm even going to propose a creative game ideal for families and friends!
The illustration we are going to make today is so simple that it doesn't matter what level you have, it will look great on you!
You can even add any details you can think of, a surfboard, a shark, clouds,… The imagination has no limits!

MATERIALS:
In the description of the YouTube video you have the list of materials that I use in this illustration. Anyway, I also leave you the list here 😜
As I have told you in other posts, it is not necessary to use these same materials, you can do magic with simple academic range watercolors. I like to leave here the references of the things I use in case you are curious and want to try any of the shades or brushes that I usually use.
In the video I tell you that it is not a very good idea to refill a fountain pen with permanent ink. In my experience, Lamy Safari pens do not close well and the ink evaporates…. With water-based ink, this problem is not so serious, but with permanent ink it is. It remains embedded in the mechanism and is quite difficult to clean. Plus it gets stuck.
I am relatively new to the world of pens and permanent inks. I met them thanks to Alicia Aradilla and her Domestika course. I jumped into the pool and bought what she recommended. After two years of using this pen with permanent ink, it still works more or less well, but I have to clean it almost every time I use it (especially if I don't use it continuously).
If one day it breaks, I don't think I'll use this mechanism again, I'll probably switch to another type of pen. We'll see when the time comes. 🤷🏻♀️
I encourage you to use the materials you have at home, colored pencils, soft crayons, acrylic paint,... The important thing is to enjoy and have a good time!
If you have any questions regarding materials, paper, brushes, ... or anything related to watercolor! You can write it in comments and I will answer you as soon as possible.
And remember, if you want, you can tag me on Instagram as @martagarcia_ilustracion and that way I can see your creations. I can't wait to see what you are able to create!
I hope you have a very happy week,
Until next time!
