What is Spoonflower? – The most original fabrics for your Handmade projects

In this week's post I want to talk to you about Spoonflower and its many advantages.
Whether you are avid sewists or if you use fabrics to cover folders, this is your store!
Since I discovered it, I don't buy fabric for my projects anywhere else.

What is Spoonflower?
Spoonflower is an online fabric store, wallpaper and decoration for the home.
Said like that, it doesn't seem like anything out of this world, right? The special thing about Spoonflower is that all its designs are made by independent artists . There are thousands of designs from artists around the world. With each purchase we are making happy the great artist behind that beautiful design.

Many types of fabric are available. Even if you don't have much idea which one to choose, you can filter by type of use, material and properties.
Connect with your favorite designers
The way Spoonflower works is similar to that of a social network.
When you register you create a profile in which the designs you mark as favorites will be saved. In addition, news from the artists you follow will appear. A very cool way to not miss any news!
It also gives us the opportunity to write comments on our favorite designs and to write messages to the artists.
Fill a yard – gather all your designs on the same piece of fabric
With this tool you can fill a yard of fabric with your favorite designs. You have the ability to include from 1 to 42 designs in each yard.
Imagine that you want to personalize your baby's birthday napkins with different animal motifs; or you want to cover the covers of a notebook with floral motifs and the endpapers with stripes. This tool makes your work easier.
Not everything is rosy
And, although Spoonflower is very cool, it also has some drawbacks that you will have to consider.
- Although they are based in Germany, most orders are shipped from the United States. Depending on our luck at customs, we may have to pay fees. In my case, I have only had to pay customs twice, and the amount has not been crazy either.
- Orders are «print on demand» that is, they are printed exclusively for you, so delivery times depend greatly on the workload they have at that time.
- The prices of some products (wallpapers and home decorations especially) are higher than in stores. This is logical, they are unique products, manufactured exclusively for you.
