Looking for inspiration – Peñíscola

Hello again!

How about I start the month of September talking about my summer trip?

This year the chosen destination has been…. Peñíscola!

In case you don't know it, Peñíscola is a small coastal city in the province of Castellón (Valencian Community, Spain). Its charm lies mainly in its location, part of the town center is situated on a rocky peninsula.

At the top of this rock formation, the well-known Castillo del Papa Luna was built between the 13th and 14th centuries. Strolling through the narrow streets that surround the castle is wonderful.

Plagued with bars, restaurants and souvenir shops, it becomes difficult to choose where to stop to regain strength.

If you decide to visit Peñíscola in August, it is important that you know that it is necessary to reserve a table so as not to be surprised.

We were not staying in the urban area of the city, but on the beach, about a 40-minute walk from the castle.

The first day we went for a walk and enjoy the views from the rock, we tried to have dinner and we couldn't, all the terraces we asked about were full.

On the second day we managed to book at Bar y Pulpería “El Rebost”. They have their own boat, so the fish couldn't be fresher.

We tried typical dishes from the area such as octopus, fried fish or all i pebre de gatet. All very good and at a good price. If I remember correctly, we went out to less than 13 euros per person.

If, like me, you are a nature lover, you cannot miss visiting the Sierra de Irta.

With the bikini and the camera in the backpack, we set the alarm clock at 5:00 in the morning to set off for the route of the cliffs.

Seeing the sunrise over the Badum tower, with the Mediterranean Sea and Peñíscola in the background as protagonists, is priceless. An unforgettable experience.

I leave you the link to my Pinterest board, in case you want to take a look at the rest of the photos of the trip.
